
Nik Huey is a Black American music director, artist, and audio engineer from Detroit, MI. Beginning his musical journey at a young age, he developed a deep passion for composing music for vocal ensembles, live bands, recording artists, and visual media.
Huey studied Contemporary Writing and Production at Berklee College of Music. As a student, he performed in productions such as IMAGO's The Future of Blackness (2017), Data for Black Lives II (2019), and many others. In 2020, he toured with Bobby McFerrin, including a performance at Symphony Hall in Massachusetts.

As a member of Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit (2011-2017), he performed at prestigious venues such as the Apollo Theater, Joe’s Pub, and Carnegie Hall in New York. He competed in the 2014 World Choir Games and toured with Josh Groban in 2015.
In addition to his performance work, Huey worked on several musical theatre productions, many of which were held at the Detroit Film Theatre. His contributions include producing original tracks for Mwindo, After Snark, Alice: The New Wonderful (2023), Yellow Brick Ballads (2024), and All Hail: A Contemporary Retelling of Julius Caesar (2025). He also directed two concerts, Songs for the People (2025), and Harlem Renaissance Remixed (2026), both paying tribute to Black American music throughout history.

Nik has collaborated with various artists, from providing background vocals for Sherbanski's rock album Out to Lunch to featuring on the single "Waste It" with Jess. He also wrote and sang on Last Gasp Collective's album, which won Best Hip-Hop Album at the 2023 WYCE Jammie Awards. Most recently, he wrote and produced tracks for Coventry X Detroit's collaboration album, which won Best Original Track at the 2024 Youth Music Awards in the United Kingdom.
